SMG Europe's First Direct Arena to Receive WLAN Solution Powered by On-Communications & Extricom

SMG Europe, a provider of solutions for venue management, asserted that its soon-to-be-opened first direct arena is a multi-purpose, entertainment-focused super theatre located in Leeds, UK that is capable of hosting concerts and other entertainment events, providing a high level of comfort.

The arena will be officially opened on September 4th by Elton John and his band, followed by shows by Leonard Cohen, Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli and Cirque Du Soleil. Recently the arena was road tested by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band with their only indoor U.K. show of 2013.

In order to deliver richest digital and mobile experience possible to artists and fans visiting the arena, SMG Europe is said to have deployed a powerful large public venue WLAN solution that is powered by Extricom (News - Alert) & On-Communications. For the entirety of the road test event, the WLAN solution is said to have offered high bandwidth, wire-like reliability and seamless mobility throughout the venue.

Ian Roberts, managing director of On-Communications, remarked, “We are honored to extend our relationship with SMG Europe to the first direct Arena. These are exciting times for mobile digital services in music and entertainment. Delivering on those plans over the coming years with SMG in such a fabulous venue is terrifically exciting.”

Extricom exclaimed that its Wi-Fi solution for large public venues provides robust connectivity and high throughput for thousands of wireless clients in convention centers, arenas and open air stadiums. The solution is backed by its Channel Blanket technology and is capable of resolving the technical obstacles, building on years of expertise delivering Wi-Fi in the most challenging environments.

Extricom asserted that it was excited to be chosen for the first direct arena along with its U.K. large venue partner On-Communications. Earlier this year, Extricom won the ‘Product Innovation’ prize from the international Stadium Business Awards and SMG Europe’s selection is claimed by the company as further validation of its technological prowess in large public venue Wi-Fi.
