Ikanos Unveils inSIGHT Broadband Experience Manager

Ikanos (News - Alert) Communications, Inc. has unveiled inSIGHT Broadband Experience Manager (BXM), a unique in-home broadband diagnostic and tracking offering, which has been incorporated into a DSL communications processor. Carriers stand to gain considerable operational cost benefits apart from enhancing consumer’s quality of experience.

The highly developed diagnostic features of the chipset and Ikanos' patent-pending algorithms are advantageously utilized by the inSIGHT BXM software suite, allowing carriers to recognize the reasons for common wiring mistakes and noise interference issues in a proactive manner.

While consumers will be facilitated to solve elementary issues locally, carrier personnel will be allowed to diagnose and solve extremely intricate problems remotely. Carriers can therefore decrease operating costs by decreasing the number of service calls and truck rolls. They can also enhance consumer loyalty and retention.

"The CPE side of the access network is a hotbed of activity, as carriers seek to provide customers an in-home communications hub for all of their broadband applications and devices,” said Jag Bolaria, senior analyst at The Linley Group. “Ensuring a positive customer experience is the ultimate goal, and Ikanos' inSIGHT BXM takes aim at resolving connectivity or performance issues that may arise in serving the connected household -- even empowering consumers to resolve basic issues on their own. At a time when broadband demand is at an all-time high, this is a strong move by Ikanos to help carriers provide a positive experience to subscribers."
