ZyXEL Unveils New Range of 11ac Devices to Enhance Consumers' Connectivity Experiences

The 802.11ac standard is known to leverage the minimal interference offered by the 5GHz band while offering speeds required for video media streaming, online gaming and telephony applications for PCs, tablets, and smartphones.

Cashing in on 802.11ac’s properties, ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products, has launched a new range performance-driven 802.11ac routers and USB adapters featuring cloud-based optimization technology, in order to enhance the consumer's connectivity experience.

The new products added to the ZyXEL portfolio include: routers, namely NBG6503, X650 and NBG6716, which offer data rates from 750 Mbps to 1750 Mbps; and USB adapters, namely, NWD6505 and AC240, which deliver 433 Mbps and 867 Mbps speeds respectively.

The new ZyXEL NBG6716 is an AC1750 router offering 1.3Gbps throughput in the 5Ghz band and 450Mbps in the 2.4GHz band. Available at $229.99 MSRP, it can identify different types of traffic and intelligently manage them as required.

In addition, NBG6716's optimization technology includes a cloud-based service that automatically pushes the latest app management profiles to the router. This feature not only optimizes quality of service based on packet priority, but also adds the ability to automatically allocate bandwidth for different applications based on their bandwidth requirements. This ensures users with optimal experience on a home network.

The new ZyXEL X650 is an AC1200 router offering 867Mbps speed for 11ac and 300Mbps speeds for 11n, as well as Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It is available at a price of $139.99 MSRP.

Another new router is the ZyXEL NBG6503 device, which offers AC750 connectivity with 433Mbps 11ac and 300Mbps 11n. It is priced at $99.99 MSRP.

The new USB 3.0 adapter AC240 is an AC1200 device operating on speeds of 867Mbps over 11ac and 300Mbps over 11n. With USB 3.0, users will be able to enjoy more bandwidth than USB 2.0, thereby allowing for faster real throughput when compared to USB 2.0 based AC1200 USB adapters. It is priced at $69.99 MSRP.
