CyrusOne and Infinera Collaborate Over CyrusOne's Texas Internet Exchange (IX)

Data center service providers CyrusOne (News - Alert) and Infinera reportedly partnered on CyrusOne’s Texas Internet Exchange (IX), and will be working together to deploy high-speed cloud-based services in Texas.

Josh Snowhorn, vice president and general manager of interconnection at CyrusOne, commented, “The deployment of Infinera’s (News - Alert) Digital Optical Network provides us with a robust platform for high-speed cloud-based services that will ensure service flexibility, minimize bandwidth costs, simplify network operations, and consolidate network architecture. In addition, the Infinera solution reduces latency for active-active disaster recovery requirements. Infinera is one of the most respected optical telecommunications suppliers in the world. To provide this level of technology and support demonstrates our level of dedication to the CyrusOne Texas IX platform.”

CyrusOne explained with its Texas IX, one can configure a virtual on-net platform from a multitude of carriers and providers. It allows for optimal flexibility and interconnection with anyone at any connected facility, and to the cloud at no additional cost.

The IX networks’ optical features are powered by Infinera DTN platform, embedded with Bandwidth Virtualization.

Infinera claimed that its DTN remains the first platform in the world to combine the speed of optics with the simplicity of digital networking to deliver the world's first WDM platform, which includes fully integrated non-blocking. The Bandwidth Virtualization is an architecture that transforms the flexibility and responsiveness of the optical network by decoupling the underlying physics of the optical layer, from the practical need to deliver capacity between two or more locations.

With Infinera’s DTN platform, CyrusOne can seamlessly provision bandwidth circuits on its own schedule and rapidly respond to dynamic network requirements. CyrusOne will also get to enjoy a highly reliable but simple operational experience with Infinera DTN, which also aids data center operators in deploying their own optical networking system.

Scott Chandler, Infinera vice president for North America sales, added, “Data centers are an important part of the IT structure for large enterprises, and Infinera is excited to partner with CyrusOne on their Internet Exchange. With Infinera’s Digital Optical Network solution, CyrusOne benefits from the simplicity of operating a high-speed optical network, designed to meet the needs of cloud-based services.”
