BeyondTrust Releases PowerBroker for Windows 5.5

BeyondTrust, a provider of Context-Aware (News - Alert) Security Intelligence, exclaimed that its PowerBroker for Windows helps organizations to significantly improve their desktop security by simplifying the process of restricting users’ administrator privileges without hindering productivity.

The latest version PowerBroker for Windows 5.5 is packed with advanced analytics and reporting capabilities which can help customers execute smarter decisions about their security.

Brad Hibbert, executive vice president of product engineering at BeyondTrust commented, “The high velocity of change in today’s enterprise infrastructure often means security teams are making critical business decisions based on threats, regardless of the actual context of those threats. This new product release allows organizations to make more effective security decisions, by delivering the context that can only be provided by fusing both vulnerability and privileged identity information.”

The process of removing administrator privileges supposedly shrinks the attack surface available to malicious users and malware, and PowerBroker for Windows is said to be the fastest, easiest and most cost-effective way to do so.

The solution is capable of assessing a system’s overall risk with respect to the level of privileges being awarded. Using the real-time application events garnered by PowerBroker, BeyondTrust facilitates immediate alerting and threat prioritization of vulnerable application usage.

Notable benefits of PowerBroker for Windows include the ability to grant administrator privileges to applications and tasks and not users; learning about what applications users run and what privileges are required, based on that instant policy creation; better application control and white listing; immediate time to value with extensive reporting, discovery, automated rule generation and more flexible rules; and more.

Using the latest version, a company can derive advantages from system and application vulnerability data when considering the requirements of elevated privileges for users, tasks and applications.

In related news, BeyondTrust won the 2012 North American Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) Product Leadership award and integrated with McAfee  for secure vulnerability scanning.
