Dimension Data New Zealand Announces Partnership with Desktone

Dimension Data (News - Alert) New Zealand, a specialist IT services and solution provider that helps clients plan, build, support and manage their IT infrastructures, recently entered a partnership with Desktone Inc., the pioneer of Desktops-as-a-Service.

With this partnership, Dimension Data will be able to provide cost-effective, full-featured virtual desktops as a cloud service.

By using the Desktone virtual desktop Platform, the company will help New Zealand companies and government agencies to support corporate and remote workers, the rapid adoption of mobile computing and other enterprise initiatives in a scalable and cost-effective manner.

“Organizations are increasingly embracing cloud computing for its flexibility, efficiency and ease of use,” said Leigh Jackson, Technology Manager for Dimension Data New Zealand, in a statement. “At Dimension Data we’ve been aggressively building our portfolio of cloud services with solutions like Desktone's multi-tenant virtual desktop platform that help customers improve performance and lower IT costs.”

Desktops delivered as a cloud service will help Dimension Data to reduce capital expenditure and allow workers to take their desktop experience anywhere on any device.

Corporate and government departments, with the help of this, will be able to flex their infrastructure to align with demand and changes in business.

“DaaS is outpacing onsite enterprise VDI as the simple and affordable solution to market demands for device independence and controllable IT costs,” said Peter McKay, CEO at Desktone. “With cloud-hosted virtual desktops, Dimension Data can deliver complete virtual desktops in a truly scalable cloud environment that’s easy to manage, without worrying about hardware or software costs.”

In related news, Dimension Data unveiled Dimension Data OneCloud Partner Program, a global cloud partnership initiative that helps service providers, education institutions, government agencies and trading communities to rapidly bring new cloud services to market.
