Impetus is a technology services company that provides expert level consulting. It specializes in big data, the cloud, mobility and social media. I recently had a chance to sit down and speak with Anand Venugopal, director of business development with Impetus at Cloud Expo 2012 Santa Clara.
Venugopal emphasized the company’s expertise in the big data space. It has been working in the space for four years, and has a good level of scale and robustness, with over 200 of its 1300 employees working on big data. Venugopal also spoke about Impetus’ competencies in the cloud, making applications agnostic with vendors.
Impetus’ go-to-market model is based on thought leadership, and the company has been to a number of shows recently to talk about the cloud and big data. Venugopal stated that Fortune 500 companies are reaching out to Impetus and that it works with all the major big data vendors and across all verticals.
The company works at the intersection of cloud and big data, focusing on big data cluster management in multivendor environments. Its expertise can help fill in gaps about governance and security, and serve as a one-stop-shop for big data solutions, both on-premise and in the cloud.
According to Venugopal, Impetus makes the dive into big data easier. It combines business analytics with big data to show the compelling story of that abundance of information. Venugopal points out that all verticals are starting to deal with this problem and are increasingly looking for solutions. Each vertical has unique problems, though, and Impetus works to be sensitive to the needs of various industries in the cloud.
