Enterprise Incident Response Market to Grow Steadily in Response to Cyber Threats

Today, ABI Research's (News - Alert) Cyber Security Research Service published new findings about the Enterprise Incident Response market, which is predicted to see "highly dynamic growth" over the next few years to hit $14.79 billion in 2017. This number is to grow in response to the rising occurrence of malicious cyber attacks, including hacking and spying on organizations.

"A new wave of targeted services in offensive security is emerging in answer to the growing number of cyber-attacks against enterprises," says Michela Menting, senior analyst at cyber security, in a statement. "Incident response solutions are increasingly moving from a reactive to a pre-emptive model in an effort to help organizations regain the upper hand in their battle against malicious cyber agents."

It's obviously important for any business, from the smallest start up to large multinationals, to implement more than one form of protection as the chances are high that a company will face cyber attacks and malware infections at some point in its life cycle. Unfortunately, many are expected to struggle in dealing with such threats effectively.

Even so, ABI Research expects strong growth for the security solutions market, with traditional IDS/IPS, UTMS and SIEM expected to continue their strong overall position in the market as essential response tools. However, the research firm also predicts that a niche market will pop up in intelligence gathering services over the forecasted period.

In early November, ABI Research president and CEO Tim Archdeacon accepted an invitation to participate on the International Advisory Board of ITU-IMPACT. The IAB is a union of public and private companies looking to improve cyber security preparedness.

Later in the month, the research firm's Cyber Security Research Service stated that global spending on financial critical infrastructure security will total $17.14 billion by the end of 2017. This includes spending on counter measures, transaction and data security, in addition to policies and procedures.
