Fujitsu Launches New Version of NETSMART 1500 Software

Fujitsu (News - Alert), a source of business, information technology and communications solutions, recently announced the newer version of NETSMART 1500 software, a management solution that manages tunnel and VLAN services (single and dual-tagged) delivered on the FLASHWAVE 9500, FLASHWAVE CDS and FLASHWAVE 4100 Packet Optical Networking Platforms.

The NETSMART 1500 software provides the tools to provision Ethernet tunnels, protection domains and service OAM (SOAM) Y.1731 monitoring. The solution simplifies the management, provisioning and surveillance of the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE family of SONET/SDH, WDM and packet optical networking solutions, as well as legacy Fujitsu NEs.

The NETSMART 1500 software provides the tools to provision Ethernet tunnels, protection domains and service OAM (SOAM) Y.1731 monitoring.

“Point and click GUI based provisioning of MEF (News - Alert)-compliant Ethernet services is a critical requirement of nearly every network operator,” said Ron Kline, Principal Analyst Network Infrastructure at Ovum (News - Alert). “The ability to accelerate time to market for new revenue-generating COE services—one of the strongest growing markets—is even more important.”

The solution empowers service providers to reduce operating expenses by cutting back on the time and complexity associated with day-to-day operational and maintenance tasks. This is achieved using features such as end-to-end circuit provisioning, real-time fault isolation and resolution, and upgrading your network equipment software to the latest available release.

The NETSMART 1500 Management System scales to support hundreds of users and thousands of NEs—securing the existing investment and supporting future growth.

Meanwhile, Violin Memory and Fujitsu recently announced five virtualization world record benchmark results using Fujitsu's PRIMERGY servers and Violin 6000 Series Flash Memory Arrays. The combination of Fujitsu and Violin enable Fortune 1000 companies to maximize the value of their server-storage infrastructure for virtualization deployments.

This is the latest in a series of benchmarks where Violin Flash Memory Arrays were used as the storage systems. Violin's Arrays have quickly become the clear choice for primary enterprise storage that powers the needs of the virtualized data center.
