Yellowfin, an Australia-based international Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, has unveiled its new BI presentation and collaboration solution, Storyboard.
Business intelligence is all about acquiring information from various sources and organizing them in a manner that expedites decision making process for the management. It is important to communicate BI data in a way that a wider array of people, including those from non data-centric backgrounds, can benefit from the data.
In an effort to provide its clients with interactive collaborative capabilities, Yellowfin has developed Storyboard, which comes complete with a presentation-oriented User Interface (UI).
It adds a fully integrated and interactive PowerPoint-like presentation module to Yellowfin’s BI Platform.
According to industry watchers, the BI dashboards through which information is communicated have remained fundamentally stagnant for quite some time, failing to adapt to changing reporting and analytics technologies. Storyboard is aimed at addressing this gap.
It is meant to redefine how BI data is consumed and acted upon.
“By blending BI with a comprehensive presentation platform, Storyboard enables users to integrate fully interactive data-rich presentations into their natural decision-making processes, to generate an analytic s culture, realize ROI and drive real fact-based action,” Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, explained in a statement.
Storyboard is fully integrated into the core Yellowfin application, and comes as
part of a standard Yellowfin license. Being completely Web-based, it allows users to share and view Storyboard presentations anywhere, anytime. It ensures that all users, permitted to view a Storyboard, have access to one uniform version – unlike PowerPoint.
Users can access Storyboard by logging into their Yellowfin instance via the browser and navigating to the Storyboard tab on the Yellowfin UI.
Storyboard will be made publicly available as part of the Yellowfin 6.2, scheduled for release on December 7, 2012.
Rabie said the release included many significant enhancements and additions to the vendor's Collaborative BI capabilities, aimed at addressing notoriously low BI user adoption rates.
“The consumerization of BI only got it half right – we needed to make BI easier; and we have. But most people don't want to write reports or do self-service analysis. They just want answers,” he explained. “And they want to share those answers with the people they trust, enabling them to collaborate and then make better decisions. That's what Yellowfin 6.2 is all about.”
