AVG Launches New AVG Safe Browser for iPad and iPhone, Upgrades its AntiVirus for Android

AVG Technologies, a company deeply rooted in the Internet and mobile security spaces, has introduced the new AVG Safe Browser for iPhone (News - Alert), iPad, iPod touch users, to keep them safe from privacy and identity threats online.

The company has also enhanced its AntiVirus for Android version 3.0.2 with new capabilities and features, after the company took extensive user feedback.

The antivirus now has a new design and a fresh look and feel, accompanied with an easy-to-use app, said company officials.

"AVG sees mobile as a strategic focus area and since the launch of our first mobile security product in 2010, we have seen immense growth in this area," said JR Smith, CEO at AVG Technologies. "We were the first to provide a free security app for Android (News - Alert) devices and today we are very excited to announce a new sleeker and easier to use interface on our very popular Android AntiVirus product. Also today we are launching AVG Safe Browser for iOS, delivering against our multiplatform strategy.”

“This new browser brings AVG's LinkScanner and AVG Do Not Track technology to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch."

According to the company, AVG Safe Browser easily protects users from online scams and attacks that can happen on any platform with access to the Web. This browser uses AVG's LinkScanner technology to scan different sites that are known to be malicious or contain scams or malware.

Once the threat is detected, the site is blocked and reported to the user to educate him/her on the sites that track individuals online so they may make the necessary changes to their own data security.

The other eye-catcher of the company, AVG AntiVirus for Android version 3.0.2, includes a 'widget' and SMS Filtering feature that enables users to monitor and interact with the indicators without opening the app itself.

Users get to customize the widget to provide quick access to the features and information they prefer on the home screen.
