Mongolian Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs Selects Gemalto for Personal Data Safety

Recently, Gemalto (News - Alert) announced that the Mongolian Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs had deployed the company’s Sealys secure multi-service electronic ID cards for its national identity program.

Apart from paving the way for new eGovernment services, this new eID program will safeguard Mongolian citizens’ identities.

The increase in international travel, rising threats from terrorism, high levels of identity fraud and illegal immigration mean that a nation’s travel documents, ID and healthcare documents must be secure. By ensuring that the document selected can be trusted, Gemalto promises that these threats are dealt with properly.

The company uses technologies and materials that are difficult to come by, copy and use.

Gemalto’s Sealys MultiApp ID comes with a microprocessor and a set of Gemalto software that safely monitors citizens’ personal data. This consists of the holder’s digital photograph and fingerprints, while still respecting the holder’s privacy.

The Mongolia national eID card also provides Gemalto’s latest innovation in safe printing: the Sealys Clear Window. To provide improved safety against forgery, this is a transparent section created in the pure polycarbonate card body structure.

“Mongolian citizens have in hand the best of Gemalto's secure document technology to ensure protection of the eID card and the data it contains,” commented Tommi Nordberg, senior vice president at Gemalto. “Our cooperation with Bodi International has been very constructive to develop a secure and high-performance eID solution for the benefit of the country’s citizens.”

Recently, the company announced that its solution for Mobile Financial Services (MFS) was installed by Telecom Italia (News - Alert) for the launch of mobile wallet. Telecom Italia is a mobile operator in Italy with over 30 million subscribers. The solution consists of the LinqUs Trusted Services Management (TSM) platform for the safe handling of NFC applications, and the LinqUs mobile payment platform for transaction management.
