AMD Signs Distribution Agreement with Symmetry Electronics

AMD (News - Alert), a semiconductor design innovator, recently revealed that it has signed a distribution agreement with Symmetry Electronics, a distributor in the embedded market which includes digital signage, industrial control, automotive, manufacturing and machine-to-machine technologies.

According to the terms of the agreement, Symmetry will promote, sell and support the full line of AMD embedded products.

AMD embedded products include the R-Series platform which delivers high performance processing coupled with a premium high definition visual experience in a solution that is still power efficient. The solution enables unprecedented integrated graphics and multi-display capabilities in embedded applications that can be compact and low power. The portfolio also includes a G-Series processor, touted as the first integrated circuit to combine a low-power CPU and a discrete level GPU into a single embedded Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). This unprecedented level of graphics integration builds a new foundation for high performance multi-media content delivery in a small form factor and power efficient platform for a broad range of embedded designs

"We are very pleased to be teaming up with Symmetry Electronics (News - Alert) for the distribution of our full line of embedded solutions," said Arun Iyengar, AMD's vice president and general manager, Embedded Solutions, in a statement. "Symmetry Electronics fully understands the performance benefits and unique features of AMD's embedded APUs and graphics processors. Both companies are committed to providing customers with products that are high-performance, consume low-power and support embedded life cycles, all while offering a comprehensive level of support to enable customers to quickly design and integrate differentiated products while reducing time-to-market."

"Our customers have a range of needs requiring a robust and differentiated product portfolio," added Gil Zaharoni, chief executive officer of Symmetry Electronics. "AMD has a long history of developing innovative technology. And the addition of its industry-leading embedded APUs and GPUs to our lineup strengthens our position and allows us to better meet the specific needs of our customers."
