F5 Networks Introduces BIG-IP Virtual Edition for AWS

F5 Networks (News - Alert), Inc. recently introduced a new BIG-IP virtual edition for Amazon Web Services (AWS), based on the company's BIG-IP products portfolio for the AWS cloud. With the introduction of the new BIG-IP solution for AWS, F5 will help address the growing need from organizations to extend their data centers and applications to AWS, ensuring enterprise-class reliability, scalability and security, as well as optimal performance.

In a statement, Siva Mandalam, director of Product Management and Product Marketing, Cloud and Virtualization Solutions at F5, said that, “Enterprise customers have come to rely on BIG-IP’s strategic awareness that provides important information on how applications, resources, and users interact in order to successfully deliver applications. Since BIG-IP for AWS will have equivalent features to physical BIG-IP devices, customers can apply the same level of control for their applications in AWS.”

“With BIG-IP running in enterprise data centers and on AWS, customers can establish secure tunnels, burst to the cloud, and control the application from end to end,” Mandalam said.

The BIG-IP solution for AWS has been designed with features for supporting traffic management; balancing of global server load; application firewall; and Web application acceleration, among other application delivery solutions.

The latest offering from F5 provides benefits including seamless F5 ADN services operation in the cloud – BIG-IP virtual editions are now available to a greater number of customers keen on benefiting from cloud offerings.

Availability for AWS also builds on F5’s already extensive support for virtualized and cloud environments on vSphere, Hyper-V, Xen and KVM.

Organizations will also be able to take advantage of numerous cloud resources, and AWS customers will be able to quickly add F5’s advanced range of availability, optimization and security services to enhance cloud and hybrid deployment models.

IT teams can quickly scale application environments, so that both the production and lab versions of BIG-IP virtual editions for AWS will make it easy for IT teams to transit from testing and development to production- and support-based business applications.

Furthermore, customers will be able to use and apply their existing BIG-IP configuration and policies to BIG-IP running on AWS.
