BrightPoint Americas Appointed as ZTE Distributor

BrightPoint North America will support the delivery of selected ZTE branded wireless devices and accessories.

As a newly appointed ZTE distributor, BrightPoint Americas will also support the delivery of Android (News - Alert) and smartphones throughout the United States and its territories.

BrightPoint North America is the subsidiary of mobility lifecycle products and services provider BrightPoint.

“BrightPoint Americas is focused on bringing world-class products to carriers, retailers and customers, and we are pleased to expand our portfolio to include ZTE's (News - Alert) affordable, feature-rich devices and accessories that provide exceptional value to consumers,” said J. Mark Howell, BrightPoint's president Mobile North America.

ZTE USA is a subsidiary of ZTE, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, dedicated to making quality communications technology accessible to all.

“We are committed to providing advanced, flexible and affordable mobile devices that create maximum value for our customers. Our agreement with BrightPoint enables us to offer customers a deep portfolio of connected devices,” said Richard Qu, executive vice president, ZTE USA.

Shenzhen based ZTE  was also in news for landing a network expansion project for phase 3 of the China Education and Research Network (CERNET) under which it will deliver its coherent 100G solution and ZXONE 8000 series OTN products to build the backbone bearer network.

The total transmission distance for the third phase of the China Education and Research Network project will exceed 10,000 km and will cover cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

ZTE claims its 100G solution can support upgrades from 10G to 100G and also enable hybrid transmission of 100G and 10G services.
