AMD-Based HP Servers Record Highest VMmark 2.1 Score

HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 Servers support HP iLO Management Engine from initial installation to service alerting and remote support. The company provides an HP iLO Management Engine on all HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers and consists of HP iLO, HP Intelligent Provisioning, HP Agentless Management, HP Active Health System and HP embedded Remote Support.

HP’s ProLiant BL465c Gen8 servers make use of AMD (News - Alert) Opteron 6200 Series processors. AMD recently announced that this has allowed HP to record the highest VMmark 2.1 score ever posted.

In fact, HP’s score was 40 percent better than the next score, which, according to AMD, represents the power of its Opteron 6200 Series processors.

The new AMD Opteron 6200 Series processor offers the world's highest core density, allowing customers to host more virtual machines per server. It also lets them administer more database users and solve more complicated HPC applications with fewer nodes and less power.

According to AMD, this feature provides a considerably enhanced option for the hyper-efficient, virtualized and cloud-ready world.

“The new VMware benchmark is a further indication that AMD Opteron processors are ideally suited for virtualization," said Suresh Gopalakrishnan, corporate vice president and general manager of Servers, AMD. "Servers using high core-count AMD Opteron 6200 series processors provide outstanding performance, reliability, scalability and affordable efficiency for virtualized IT environments and cloud computing.”

In 2009, the company displayed its latest advancements to improve the network performance feature of industry-standard Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture blade servers. Apart from a low-power platform for the networking and telecommunications market, Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors at 50 and 71W TDP readily offer high performance.

Delivering a complete solution with enhanced I/O capabilities to improve performance, the new AMD server chipset offers PCI (News - Alert) Express 2.0 and HyperTransport 3 technology.
