Ingram Micro Brings Resellers Closer to Cloud Computing with CTA 2.Go

Ingram Micro (News - Alert) Inc. UK, a business-to-business wholesale provider of supply chain management services and technology products, has re-launched a CTA, Channel Transformation Alliance, a pan European initiative. Distribution giant Ingram Micro EMEA is now encouraging resellers to push cloud solutions with its re-launch of its channel transformation alliance (CTA).

The alliance, branded as CTA 2.Go, was launched in September 2011 and was created to help resellers sell and promote the cloud and managed services. It has high profile companies such as Microsoft, Cisco (News - Alert), HP, CA Technologies and Symantec as members of the alliance. Ingram Micro Channel Transformation Alliance initiative is to expand its technology focus and to include mobility, virtualization, and Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) by incorporating cloud computing into larger technology solutions. A further goal of CTA initiative is to help resellers understand the different business model options that were available to them which could help improve their efficiency.

Alain Maquet, senior executive vice-president and president Ingram Micro EMEA, explained that they have moved from the ‘What is cloud computing?’ and ‘Where is my data?’ questions so often asked in previous years, to questions such as ‘How can I incorporate cloud into larger technology solutions?’ and ‘When is cloud most practical according to my end-customer’s needs, budget, and location?’.

He added that the advancements that the Channel Transformation Alliance is making is bringing resellers closer to cloud computing, managed services and mobile communications enhances and strengthens Ingram Micro UK’s position as they grow into these technologies.

Ingram Micro has seen a strong response from its reseller partner community who are interested in actively transforming their business models so that they are able to capture business opportunities around cloud computing and managed services.

The CTA website includes a ‘Beginner’ and ‘Advanced’ track. Resellers who are at different stages of adoption and business model maturity can pick up the track that matches their stage of cloud computing incorporation.
