Wipro Appoints IT Veteran Vyomesh Joshi to its Board

Wipro (News - Alert) Limited, which provides comprehensive IT solutions and services, has appointed Vyomesh Joshi, an information technology industry veteran, to its board of directors with immediate effect.

Officials with Wipro said that Joshi will serve as an independent member on the board and is expected to bring to Wipro a wealth of experience, having spent over three decades in the industry.

Until recently, he was the executive vice president of Hewlett-Packard's (News - Alert) imaging and printing group. “He brings in a unique combination of wisdom and technical capabilities. I am sure that Wipro will benefit from his insights and experience,” said Azim Premji, chairman, Wipro Limited, in a statement.

“I have for long admired Wipro as a company, as much for its business excellence as for its strong commitment to values. I look forward to contributing to the company as it prepares for its future challenges,” said Joshi. Joshi completed his masters’ degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University, US.

Back in August, Wipro Technologies (News - Alert), the global information technology, consulting and outsourcing business of Wipro Limited, announced that it has become an SAP (News - Alert) services partner of SAP South Africa, a subsidiary of SAP AG.
