Extreme Networks Offers Innovative Ethernet Solution for Intelligent Physical Security

Does your network secure from physical threats? Every year, companies spend thousands of dollars on security software, but sometimes they forget to secure their system from physical security threats.

In a bid to protect network and devices from these attacks, Extreme Networks (News - Alert) has launched an Ethernet-based physical security network solution. The service has been designed to help reduce installation, operational costs and truck rolls, and simplify operations associated with networked physical security systems – including integrated alarms, IP surveillance cameras, door locks and related elements.

“Extreme Networks has an important emphasis on the operational efficiencies and network reliability features that can further the adoption of more effective physical security through IP-based, digital devices,” said Vince Ricco, business development manager, Technology Partner Program, Axis (News - Alert) Communications. “With the surveillance market in the midst of a major shift from analog CCTV to IP video, it is great to see a vendor focus on software intelligence to prioritize the integration and traffic of physical security devices. Physical security is moving onto the network, and a rock solid infrastructure is crucial for quality and reliability.”

Extreme Networks physical security network solution offers surveillance and perimeter security, intelligent buildings, traffic cameras, equipment alarms, and tracking. This solution has the ExtremeXOS operating system, and automates tasks including camera and device discovery, configuration, authentication, power management via Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+), and network policy assignment.

"Milestone Systems is very pleased to partner with Extreme Networks for video management solutions," said Reinier Tuinzing, Strategic Alliances manager, Milestone Americas.  "Network optimization, management and control are critical for reliable operation of video management installations. With the introduction of the Summit switches, Extreme Networks continues to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the needs for the video management market."
