Alvarion Partners with AirNet to Bring Carrier-Grade Wi-Fi Solution to Bulgarian Resort

Staying connected to Internet is as important for the business travelers as it is for the vacationers. In response to this growing bandwidth demand from its guests, leading Bulgarian resort Albena Resort has selected Alvarion’s (News - Alert) carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution, which will enable the resort to deliver high-speed indoor and outdoor connectivity to its guests.

Alvarion partnered with Bulgaria’s major Internet service provider, AirNet Ltd for the implementation of this carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution over a wide area spanning a stretch of 2 kilometers along the coasts o Black Sea.

Based on multiple technologies across licensed and unlicensed spectrums, Alvarion’s solutions have been designed to address the connectivity, coverage and capacity challenges of telecom operators, smart cities, security and enterprise customers.

The two-kilometers-long deployment is based on Alvarion’s high performance two-way Beamforming Wi-Fi base stations, the company clarified in a statement. It will enable the service provider to offer coverage both indoors and outdoors. The lobby areas and rooms at approximately 30 hotels, conference facilities and restaurants, park areas, recreational facilities and areas on the beach front have been brought under the coverage.

The Wi-Fi network is expected to be used by approximately 10,000 users daily. Both business travelers and vacationers can use the service to stay connected to the Internet from their mobile devices. The Wi-Fi network enables the guests to connect to the Internet at a speed of 500 Kbps to 2 Mbps and enjoy applications such as e-mail, video, image transfer, social networking and Internet browsing.

The guests can avail different service plans, which range from free Wi-Fi to paying options. A Wi-Fi coverage map helps guests to easily view the Internet connectivity for the entire resort.

“We selected Alvarion as our partner for this Wi-Fi deployment due to the unmatched coverage, capacity and quality of service their base stations provide. We are very pleased with our choice which enabled us to easily provide access to thousands of users, and deliver the needed capacity over a large area both indoors and outdoors,” General Manager of AirNet Ltd Peter Petrov explained in a statement.

“Alvarion is delighted that its carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution was chosen to be deployed in such a key vacation resort area in BulgariaThis deployment demonstrates again that our cutting-edge technology enables our partners to offer their customers an easy and cost-effective solution, addressing the need to deliver high-performance wireless connectivity,” General Manager for EMEA at Alvarion John Asher noted in a statement.

A few months back, Alvarion reported the successful deployment of the BreezeULTRA solution in a Point-to-Point configuration on the GWS Stadtwerke Hameln GmbH network in Hameln, Germany. BreezeULTRA is a high performance wireless solution with superior capacity and packet processing for voice, video and data.
