Akamai (News - Alert) Technologies, a company specializing in web application acceleration and performance management, streaming media services and content delivery, is expanding its presence in the fast-growing Asia Pacific market. The company opened offices in Taipei, Taiwan and Melbourne, Australia to allow the company to better service its customers.
With this, Akamai now has 36 regional offices around the world providing sales, services and support for its global customer base.
"Asia Pacific is a very strong region for Akamai and is headquarters to many of the globe's most innovative businesses," Sanjay Singh, senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan, Akamai said in a statement.
"I am pleased to announce the expansion of our operations and teams across the region to support our existing and future clients. Akamai is well-positioned to support enterprises throughout Asia Pacific and Japan with the continued adoption of cloud, security, mobile and video solutions," Singh added.
The opening of operations in Taipei underscores the company's commitment to both existing and new customers, helping enterprises navigate in an increasingly hyper connected world. Mentioning the opening of Melbourne office and investment in local staff, Akamai officials said that it also demonstrates the company's commitment to growing its presence in Australia in the years ahead. Akamai has an existing office in Sydney.
In addition, Akamai has strengthened its regional leadership team with the recruitment of new country managers in Japan and Korea. According to the company’s statement, Shinji Tokunaga will lead all sales, services and marketing for Akamai in Japan. In Korea, Jin-Woong Kim has joined Akamai and he will manage Akamai Korea's operations and business development strategies.
