Gazzang and DataStax to Help Customers Meet Data Security Compliance Regulations

Gazzang and DataStax have partnered to help customers meet the data security compliance regulations and protect themselves from malicious attacks. As part of the collaboration, the Gazzang zNcrypt will be available to DataStax Enterprise customers as an integrated data security solution.

DataStax Enterprise is stated to be a complete big data platform, built on Apache Cassandra, architected to manage real-time, analytic, and enterprise search data in the same database cluster. The solution has the capability to solve the mixed workload problem enterprises have struggled with for years and it can provide full workload management so that real-time, analytic, and search workloads do not compete with each other for either compute or data resources.

According to Gazzang, its zNcrypt transparently encrypts and secures data “on the fly” whether in the cloud or on premises, ensuring there is minimal performance lag in the encryption or decryption process. Advanced key management and process-based access controls enable organizations to meet compliance regulations and ensure unauthorized parties or malicious actors never gain access to the encrypted data.

“Gazzang gives DataStax customers peace of mind, knowing the sensitive information they use to run massive-scale queries and analytics is secure. Because zNcrypt is optimized for cloud and big data environments, there is no tradeoff between security and performance. This means DataStax Enterprise customers can have the best of both worlds: fast data and maximum protection”, said Larry Warnock, president and CEO of Gazzang, in a press release.

451 Research, an analyst firm, exclaimed that partnerships, such as the one struck by DataStax and Gazzang, will ensure users are able to combine the flexibility of distributed unstructured data management with the encryption and access control capabilities of zNcrypt.
