Tekelec Leads Diameter Signaling Market by a Staggering Margin

Independent market intelligence firm, Exact Ventures released a new report today that's likely to make Tekelec (News - Alert), a mobile broadband solutions provider, very happy. The report, entitled "Diameter Signaling Controllers: Forecast Report & Analysis 2012-2017," names the company as the number one company in the Diameter Signalling Controller (DSC) market, apparently making up 75 - 85 percent of revenue.

The report states that Tekelec's "strong foundation" of SS7 signaling, early entry into the DSC market and high customer satisfaction with its Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) are the main factors contributing to the company's success.

Exact Ventures also predicts that DSC market revenue will grow an average of 56 percent per year over the next five years due to "extraordinary growth in smartphone-based signaling traffic plus the growing number of network nodes that require signaling." However, the analyst firm interoperability with existing network equipment and scalability to meet higher transaction requirements will be key buying criteria for network operators.

Fortunately, Tekelec's Diameter Signaling Router already satisfies these requirements, providing the scalability, reliability and flexibility required to manage mobile data and signaling growth. As such, the company will probably continue to hold on to its overwhelming market share in this space.

"The success of service provider mobile data strategies relies on a New Diameter Network," said Doug Suriano, chief technology officer of Tekelec, in a press release. "Those deploying a Diameter infrastructure in the early stages of their LTE (News - Alert) and IMS deployments will be better positioned to profit from innovative data services and avoid signaling storms."

Tekelec was also named the top vendor in the independent policy market, according to a new report from Analysys (News - Alert) Mason entitled, "Service delivery platforms: worldwide market shares 2011." Apparently, Tekelec managed to add 11 new Policy Server (PCRF) customers in 2011 for a total of 57 policy customers.
