Mentor Graphics Releases GENIVI 2.0-Compliant IVI Platform

GENIVI is a not-for-profit industry alliance, dedicated to encouraging the wide adoption of an in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) open-source development platform. The alliance focuses on combining the requirements, providing reference implementations, offering certification programs and encouraging a better open-source IVI community.

Mentor Graphics (News - Alert) Corporation recently introduced a GENIVI 2.0-compliant, Linux-based IVI solution. The Mentor Embedded IVI Base Platform consists of new GENIVI 2.0, and benefits such as audio manager support and lower-level system management functions.

Through the Mentor Embedded IVI Linux solution, libraries, system infrastructure and management components along with Linux – and drivers for specific hardware – are combined with graphics, communication and multimedia middleware.

Helping customers create the next generation of IVI systems and provide open source software components, Mentor Embedded development tools and expert services offer a complete solution for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and their suppliers.

“Mentor Graphics has a long history of delivering best-in-class solutions for the transportation industry and our announcement of this GENIVI support means that OEMs and their supply chain can benefit from the long-term security of an industry-standard, open source base platform," stated Glenn Perry, general manager of the Mentor. "As a board member of the GENIVI Alliance, we are committed to closely following the GENIVI standard and providing OEMs and their suppliers with the ability to base designs on an accepted standard platform.”

GENIVI recently introduced the Veloce2 platform, a next-generation emulation solution that helps verify electronic system and Systems on Chip (SoC) designs. The Veloce2 platform delivers twice the performance, twice the capacity and four times productivity gained in the same footprint and power consumption as the first-generation Veloce platform, and is created to accommodate up to two billion gate designs.
