The InfiniBand Adapters from Mellanox (News - Alert) offer advanced levels of data center IT performance, efficiency and scalability. The company provides InfiniBand Host Channel Adapters (HCA), the highest performing interconnect solution for Enterprise Data Centers, Web 2.0, Cloud Computing, High-Performance Computing, and embedded environments.
Recently, the company announced that its RDMA technology for InfiniBand, running Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, achieved a new record of application performance and efficiency for remote file system, database and virtualized data center.
According to the company, this milestone achievement solves the performance problems that frequently happen in the modern virtualized data center. This is because of the unprecedented growth in the number of Virtual Machines (VM) per physical server. These benchmark results reflect the possibility for cloud service providers who can now have the performance to cater to their required SLAs at the highest efficiency, the company stated in a press release.
“Virtualization has proven to be the most effective technology to increase data center efficiency. Mellanox's interconnect solution plays a key role in solving the I/O bottlenecks that occur when accessing storage in a highly virtualized data center," said Gilad Shainer, vice president for market development at Mellanox Technologies. "Using Windows Server 2012 SMB Direct over Mellanox's RDMA-enabled interconnects simplifies cloud infrastructure deployment and maintenance, which results in higher efficiency and better ROI.”
Recently, TMC (News - Alert) reported that the company introduced a new pricing structure and an enhanced channel for its line of end-to-end 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) solutions. These prices suggest that the price of Mellanox’s 10GbE price/port for switches and adapters is much lower than industry averages. The Mellanox SX1016 will cost around $188 a port, the company stated.
