Nameplates For Industry, Inc. or ‘NFi,’ a provider of customized printed nameplates, faceplates, membrane switches, decals, labels, serial number tags, tamper-proof seals, keypad and back-lit graphic overlays, plastic cards and templates, has announced the introduction of a new 12-page design guide that will allow product designers to decide which membrane switch design will be more suitable for their product, equipment or instrumentation.

NFi is associated with the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association or SGIA and the Graphic & Product Identification Manufacturers Association or GPI, and has been given a number of international awards. NFi is well known for its advanced features such as four-color process and halftone creation, in-house image setting and Urethane Doming, extensive UL/CSA recognized products and a caring customer services staff.

The new design guide unveiled by NFi includes vital information on a number of topics such as user interfaces, material selection, aesthetic considerations, ESD/EMI/RFI (News - Alert) shielding and connectivity issues.

Named ‘NFi Membrane Switch Design Guide,’ the comprehensively illustrated booklet throws light upon various kinds of membrane switches available and the different user interfaces with graphic overlays including features such as embossing, display windows, selective texturing, material selection and interchangeable legends. Additionally, the guide also includes equipment interface criteria, support panels and technical specifications as well.

Using the new guide, customers of NFi will be able to make better decisions about which type of membrane switch will be able to suit their needs better, and the various design parameters that must be taken into account before soliciting quotations. Similarly, the 12-page design guide by NFi also provides a variety of ‘designer elements’ that must be considered while using and installing the components. In other news from December 2011, NFi introduced product identification labels that can be fully integrated with QR (quick response) codes and the full-color printing of custom graphics on a variety of substrates.
