Information technology (IT) consulting firm Enlightened has been recognized for its efforts to curb cyber crimes.

Enlightened specializes in delivering Cyber Security, System Integration, and Management Consulting solutions. It was contracted to develop a system for DC Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Case Initiation Project (CIP) and this system was nominated for the twelfth annual Excellence.gov awards hosted by ACT-IAC (News - Alert).

Enlightened’s system was nominated in the “Excellence in Intergovernmental Collaboration,” category. Awards in this category are given to programs that were designed and/or operated with close cooperation and coordination between different levels of government.

The winners for this year will be announced at a luncheon in Washington, DC on March 13, 2012.

Enlightened is a HUBZone certified company that develops and delivers strategic IT and management solutions to resolve complex business problems for federal and local government agencies and commercial customers.

The company noted that the Excellence.gov Awards were first given in 2001 by the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC).

Since then these awards are distributed to acknowledge and recognize government programs that use information technology to advance the business of government in an effective, efficient and innovative manner.

Enlightened’s system will now be reviewed by a panel of judges comprising of representatives from both government and industry.

“I am very proud of the Enlightened Team for their hard work and dedication to this project. I am also grateful for a wonderful client at CJCC that has been easy to communicate with and afforded us this opportunity to really perform at our job,” said Antwanye Ford, Enlightened’s CEO.

In other news from September 2011, Enlightened, Inc. announced that CEO Ford was a guest at President Barack Obama's remarks on the American Jobs Act.
