Red Hat Establishes Independent Board for Expanding Reach of GlusterFS Project

To further expand the reach of the GlusterFS project, Red Hat (News - Alert), Inc. has announced the establishment of an Independent GlusterFS Advisory Board to invite increased participation and contributions from third-party sys-administrators, developers, and independent software vendors.

In a release, John Mark Walker, GlusterFS Community Manager, said that, “We have established this advisory board to help ensure the future success of GlusterFS and facilitate communication between community members and the project. Each of these board members were selected based on their past contributions to GlusterFS or their standing in related communities.”

Comprising of experts on open source from multiple companies across the industry, the GlusterFS Advisory Board will be chaired by John Mark Walker, GlusterFS Community Manager at Red Hat, and will include Richard Wareing, storage engineer for Facebook (News - Alert), Anand Babu (AB) Periasamy, office of the CTO at Red Hat and co-founder of the GlusterFS project, and Ewan Mellor, Xen engineer for Citrix and a core contributor to the OpenStack project.

Wareing said that, “I'm excited to be part of the continuing evolution of the GlusterFS project. The future of GlusterFS is bright, and I am honored to help guide the project.” Any new enhancements facilitated via the GlusterFS project will help in driving future capabilities to be included to Red Hat Storage.

The board will also include David Nalley, community manager at CloudStack and Citrix and a member of the Fedora Advisory Board, Louis Zuckerman, senior system administrator at Picture Marketing, Joe Julian, senior system administrator at Ed Wyse Beauty Products, as well as Jeff Darcy, Sr. Filesystem engineer at Red Hat and founder of the HekaFS project along with Greg DeKoenigsberg, community VP at Eucalyptus and co-founder of the Fedora project.
