Conexant Enables High-Quality Audio for the Mobile PC Market

Conexant Systems (News - Alert) is delivering high-quality audio for the mobile PC market by launching two low-power, HD audio codecs – the CX20752 and CX20754.

The two codecs are compliant with Intel's (News - Alert) high-definition audio specification 1.1, and have audio fidelity exceeding Microsoft WLP 4.0 desktop and notebook premium logo requirements.

Pricing for the CX20752 and CX20754 start at $1.24 and $1.54, respectively, in 10K quantities, according to Conexant, a supplier of innovative semiconductor solutions for imaging, audio, embedded modem, and video surveillance applications.

The CX20752 and CX20754 feature two 24-bits stereo DACs operating at sampling frequencies up to 192 kHz and two 24-bits stereo ADCs operating at sampling frequencies up to 96 kHz.

These capabilities allow these codecs to easily support multi-streaming and real-time communications applications and offer ideal solutions for platforms needing Microsoft Lync and Skype (News - Alert) certification.

Conexant Systems has also included in the new releases stereo filter-less class-D amplifier with patented Common Mode Scrambling technology that can drive 2W-rms per channel at 1 percent THD+N into 4 ohm load.

Moreover, both codecs have D-Flex power management that exceeds Intel's ECR 15B requirements to achieve maximum power savings and allows for the powering down of DAC, ADC and amplifiers without pops and clicks.

“Consumers are relying more and more on mobile PCs for audio critical applications such as gaming, movies and music, and their tastes are shifting from traditional notebooks to ultrabooks and tablets with slim form factors and longer battery life,” said Sailesh Chittipeddi (News - Alert), Ph.D., president and chief executive officer for Conexant. “With Conexant's newest HD-audio codecs the CX20752 and the CX20754, audio functions and quality don't need to be sacrificed. Moreover, a low-power, high-definition audio experience is available at a fraction of the system BOM cost of alternative solutions.”

In other news, Conexant Systems, Inc. recently announced that its soft modem technology has been integrated into new devices in Atmel  Corporation's SAM9 ARM926-based family of microcontrollers (MCUs).
