Stellar Inflight Selects Digital Rapids Transcode Manager

Stellar Inflight, the world's longest-running in-flight entertainment company, has selected Digital Rapids (News - Alert) Transcode Manager automated transcoding software to transform high volumes of video and audio for both new and traditional in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems and viewing platforms

Digital Rapids Transcode Manager streamlines and automates the transcoding operations, optimizing quality, and delivering faster than real-time performance.

For transforming high volumes of media between dozens of acquisition, production, archive and multi-screen distribution formats, Digital Rapids Transcode Manager combines outstanding quality, intelligent automation and exceptional performance. Transcode Manager is ideal for dedicated transcoding applications and is scalable from small transcoding farms to global operations with hundreds of transcoding nodes.

“The advances in in-flight entertainment are yet another example of the continuing explosive growth of multi-screen content consumption,” said Nick Fitzgerald, VP, Asia Pacific at Digital Rapids. “We're excited that Stellar Inflight has selected Transcode Manager to power their high-throughput media processing workflows. The performance, quality, scalability and flexibility of Transcode Manager are ideal for supporting media organizations' growing needs and expanding content volumes both today and in the future.”

At Stellar Inflight's technical facilities in Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, multiple Transcode Engines and a Transcode Manager Server are deployed.  Transcode Manager transforms high volumes of source files into multiple outputs in the formats required by varying in-flight entertainment systems. It is also used to transcode content for viewing on portable media players and tablets, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company unveiled an extension of MediaMesh business-to-business content delivery system offering flexible, easy-to-use content packaging and sending capabilities to the users. The MediaMesh content delivery system enables efficient, fully digital contribution and distribution of HD, SD and Digital Cinema media files over public and private IP-based networks and satellite.   The MediaMesh content delivery system combines robust, scalable transfer technology with full-featured, easy-to-use sending and receiving solutions.
