Talend Cloud Unified Integration Platform Announced at Cloud Computing Expo

Open source software provider Talend has announced its cloud-enabled integration platform, the Talend Cloud, at the Cloud Computing Expo in New York City. The comprehensive unified integration platform is tailored for cloud and hybrid IT environments and offers ubiquity, security and reliability for organizations looking to ensure the integrity of their integration processes.

The platform is available for on-premise or cloud-based deployments, through SaaS (News - Alert) or in hybrid environments. For hybrid environments that combine on-premise, private and public cloud and SaaS deployments, a number of concerns can arise. These include latency, security, permissions and bandwidth, and all of them can cause integration challenges. The Talend Cloud solution offers integration of all types of deployments.

The solution is based on the company's Unified Integration Platform, and offers a common environment for users who wish to manage the entire lifecycle of integration processes. This includes a graphical development environment, a runtime environment for operations, a deployment mechanism and a monitoring console for management. All are built on top of a shared metadata repository.

The solution features elasticity to expand and contract deployments as required, and ubiquity with support for standard systems and protocols. An open source model offers easily accessible resources through myriad platforms and devices. A modular architecture offers extensibility, enabling organizations to add, modify or remove functionality. The Cloud also enables organizations to maintain security and reliability to meet customer service level agreements (SLAs).

“Although cloud has become ubiquitous in today’s IT deployments, many organizations are still trying to determine how to function in hybrid environments,” said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend.  “At the same time, the data deluge is continuing and these same organizations are struggling to properly manage and integrate this information and the multiple systems that store and process it. Using Talend Cloud, customers can address these issues within a single platform that addresses a broad range of integration needs and technologies, ranging from data-oriented services to data quality and master data management, via a unified environment and a flexible deployment model.”

Automated deployment is available on a number of cloud platforms including Amazon EC2, Cloud.com and Eucalyptus. New connectors have also been added for a number of technologies and applications including Salesforce.com, Netsuite, SugarCRM, BIRT OnDemand, Marketo (News - Alert), Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Database.com, Hadoop, Google Applications, Google Analytics and Twitter. Connectors are added on a regular basis via the open source community or through Talend's R&D organization, and are provided through the Talend Exchange, which enables them to be downloaded and installed within the Talend Studio at no per-connector cost.

“Though demand for cloud computing is on the rise, organizations are rarely seeking to operate exclusively in the cloud, choosing instead a hybrid model in which cloud applications run alongside their on-premise IT infrastructures,” said Ted Friedman, vice president and distinguished analyst for Gartner (News - Alert) Inc. “What often gets overlooked is the need for integration as part of these hybrid clouds, sharing data as required to support the business processes which span on-premises and cloud-based applications and data stores.”
