Abiquo Ranks Highest Pure Play Vendor in Forrester Report

In its recently released report, entitled, “Market Overview: Private Cloud Solutions Q2 2011”, Forrester (News - Alert) Research has given a strong placement to Abiquo, an Enterprise Cloud Management software company.

To ensure a valid “apples-to-apples” comparison, each vendor was required to provide a 30-minute demonstration, 20 minutes of which followed a fixed script of essential functions, with the remaining 10 minutes available to show additional features of the vendor’s choice. Offering unlimited compute, storage and networking resources through a “single pane of glass”, and with its ability to provide true self-service provisioning of all those resources, Abiquo’s (News - Alert) demonstration clearly showed its ability to manage a globally deployed computing infrastructure.

Designed to meet strategic objectives, rather than as a temporary tactical fix, Abiquo’s Enterprise Cloud Management software is built to realize the company’s vision of virtualized infrastructure management.

“This report by Forrester Research (News - Alert) is hugely significant because of the rigorous approach the analysts took to evaluate the private cloud landscape and the variances among the solutions currently on the market,” said Pete Malcolm (News - Alert), Abiquo CEO. “The end result is a valuable, independent quantitative comparison of solutions that will help enterprise buyers decide on the best offering for their needs. This report validates our positioning of Abiquo as the most complete and advanced pure-play cloud management solution.”

Those vendors that had production ready solutions, and could provide solid, enterprise customer references using the solution in a private cloud inside their enterprise, were invited by Forrester to participate. While most were eliminated, the report notes that only 15 of the many vendors who applied were able to do so.

In November 2010, the company announced the release of its flagship cloud management software, designed to offer business policy management support. The release included advanced business policy support that will help IT cloud administrators to set, edit and manage business policies from a single, centralized policy editor. This would ensure that policies are consistently and automatically applied, without any user intervention.
