Emdeon (News - Alert) Inc., a premier provider of healthcare revenue and payment cycle management and clinical information exchange solutions, has won a five-year United States General Services Administration Schedule 70 contract.
A GSA schedule contract allows government agencies to purchase commercial goods and services using pre-negotiated terms and pricing with the purpose of significantly streamlining the procurement process for government customers.
Emdeon's health information network is the single largest financial and administrative information exchange in the U.S. healthcare system. Through GSA (News - Alert) contract, number GS-35F-0176X, it is allowed to offer a comprehensive array of its healthcare information technology products, services and solutions to more than 90 government entities.
With the contract, it is also possible for Emdeon to efficiently market its pharmacy, payer and consulting solutions listed in the GSA schedule contract directly to federal, state and local government agencies.
In a press release, Gary Stuart, executive vice president of payer services for Emdeon, said, "Emdeon currently provides healthcare information technology solutions to several government entities, including pharmacy services on behalf of the Department of Defense and claims processing for the Veterans Administration."
"Securing the GSA contract is a natural next step in our strategy to expand sales of Emdeon's leading healthcare technology solutions to the government."
Emdeon, under its GSA contract, is currently able to offer the government healthcare technology solutions such as claims processing, electronic prescribing and consulting solutions. It is also able to provide revenue cycle management, payment management and clinical services solutions.
In related news, Emdeon Inc. has acquired EquiClaim, a provider of healthcare audit and recovery services for commercial and government payers, from MultiPlan Inc.
