Commtouch Security Solutions Protect Clients against E-Mail Borne Malware

Commtouch (News - Alert) announced that its anti-malware technologies, specifically Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection and Command Antivirus, are very effective in protecting Commtouch clients from the recent high incidences of email-borne malware.

Commtouch provides Internet security technology to over 150 security companies and service providers for integration into their solutions. Commtouch’s GlobalView and patented Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD) technologies are cloud-based and work in a comprehensive feedback loop to protect in all languages and formats.

Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak can protect systems efficiently during the first moments of an email-borne malware outbreak, as it is based on Commtouch’s Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD). Also it analyzes large volumes of Internet traffic in real-time, identifying new malware outbreaks as soon as they occur and  thereby providing proactive blocking of viruses, said sources in Commtouch, a leading Internet security technology provider.

Manlio Carrelli, chief marketing officer of Intermedia (News - Alert) said in a release, “Our hosted exchange customers expect a virus-free environment. We chose Commtouch’s Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection because it eliminates email-borne malware threats immediately and effectively.”

Commtouch’s Command Antivirus is capable of synergizing multiple detection technologies like heuristics, emulation, and intelligent signatures with Threat Protection Modules that target specific malware types. Also the multilayered approach leveraged by Command provides optimum protection against unpredictable malware events. A zero-day Flash Player exploit used in spearphishing attacks was detected by Command in the initial VirusTotal scan of 42 antivirus engines, explained officials.

Asaf Greiner, Commtouch’s vice president of products commented, “Commtouch’s Zero-Hour and Command Antivirus solutions have a long track record of early interception of malicious outbreaks. Clients know that our technology ensures the highest levels of protection from any malware threat.”

Commtouch technology works by automatically analyzing billions of Internet transactions in real-time in its global data centers to detect new threats as and when they occur. This helps partners and customers to protect end-users from spam and malware besides enhancing safety in browsing.
