NetSupport (News - Alert), a leading provider of desktop and classroom management software, has recently announced the launch and availability of NetSupport Assist Software for Mac and Linux environments. NetSupport Assist addresses the challenges of the modern classroom and provides a new cost effective and efficient way for teachers to manage and engage with their students in Mac and Linux environments.

In a release, NetSupport’s Managing Director,  Al Kingsley, said that, “For the rapidly changing face of classroom technology and the need for support software to keep pace NetSupport is delighted to be able to bring its skills in the classroom management arena to a Mac and Linux audience. Across our product range we recognize the need to develop our technology to ensure it remains relevant for today’s modern learning environments and, with a growing number of educational establishments extending their IT infrastructure to include Mac and Linux computers and netbooks, we are certain that NetSupport Assist will be welcomed by customers whether they are familiar with the NetSupport brand or not.”

NetSupport Assist leverages NetSupport’s core classroom management technology in order to ensure that teachers are able to give their time and attention to their students without having to worry about learning and maintaining the software. Key features of the NetSupport Assist include: crystal clear student thumbnails; a wide range of remote control tools for teachers; no front-of-class display equipment; real-time presentations; student polls; full optimization for use with wired or wireless networks, laptops, netbooks and desktop computers; and compatibility with NetSupport School.

Student thumbnails ensure that the teachers are able to monitor the entire class in a single real-time view, with each thumbnail displaying visual indicators to show when files, applications and websites are open and in use. Also, action can be taken to block the internet if necessary. A remote control enables teachers to view an individual desktop to confirm that a student is on task as well as conduct two-way chat sessions without disrupting the rest of the room. NetSupport Assist is also compatible with NetSupport School, a leading classroom management solution for Windows-based classrooms. NetSupport School has already deployed more nine million licenses globally. NetSupport has become the first classroom management software vendor to offer compatible solutions across Windows, Mac and Linux environments.
