Synaptics ClearPad 7010 Chosen by Huawei

Offering users an intuitive touch interface that is responsive and accurate, Huawei (News - Alert) has selected Synaptics’ ClearPad 7010 single-chip solution for the IDEOS S7 Slim tablet.

Supporting up to 8.2" diagonal touchscreens and multi-touch for up to five fingers, the 7010, part of Synaptics (News - Alert) Series 7 product portfolio for large touchscreen applications, is an excellent touch interface for low power and small component area footprints.  It provides touch sensing accuracy and linearity, faster finger tracking – 60Hz report rate for up to five fingers, and lower power consumption featuring 8-12 mW.

Synaptics TouchPad is an advanced, touch-sensitive interface solution that senses the position of a user’s finger (or fingers) on its surface to provide screen navigation, cursor movement, application control, and a platform for interactive input. “Huawei's IDEOS S7 Slim tablet has a sleek, high-performance touchscreen that's the ideal companion device for users on the go," said Kevin Barber, senior vice president and general manager of the Handheld Division at Synaptics.  "The ClearPad Series 7 Portfolio combined with Synaptics system design expertise enables a new class of large touchscreen devices that respond naturally to your touch.”

Making it easy to hold, the tablet is thin and light measuring only 12.5 mm thick and weighing only 400 grams; a 16x9 aspect ratio.  The IDEOS S7 Slim's design and interface are optimized for portability and easy single-handed use. Offering a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera, the IDEOS S7 Slim runs Android (News - Alert) 2.2, supports HD media with 720p HD playback and multi-tasking. Huawei plans to launch the tablet globally in April 2011, the company stated.

Recently, Meizu implemented ClearPad 3000 capacitive sensing solution from Synaptics in its Meizu M9 smartphone.
