NetLogic Provides Support to Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7 OS

NetLogic Microsystems, a provider of high-performance semiconductor solutions for Internet networks, announced that its Alchemy family of ultra low-power embedded processors is now compatible with Microsoft’s (News - Alert) newly released Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating system.

This alliance will help designers of embedded systems to create robust and securely connected embedded devices faster and at lower cost. Microsoft’s Visual Studio tools, together with a powerful MIPS processor architecture, will facilitate the creation of small, powerful, connected devices in the embedded, automotive infotainment and navigation markets.

“LG Electronics Car Infotainment Division is very pleased to work with NetLogic Microsystems’ (News - Alert) Alchemy Au1300 processor family in our leading automotive infotainment products,” June Kim, general manager and vice president of LG Electronics Car Infotainment Division, said in a statement. “The Alchemy Au1300 family really delivers an excellent Windows Embedded Compact 7 experience. Our developers can quickly create an advanced product using a familiar, streamlined development environment on a powerful, ultra-low power processor solution,” Kim continued.

Windows Embedded Compact 7 OS showcases new tools and technologies such as Internet Explorer with Adobe Flash 10.1 as well as strong connectivity features. The OS also offers a seamless development environment with tools such as Platform Builder, Visual Studio, Expression Blend, and the Silverlight for Windows Embedded user interface framework. These will aid designers, developers and manufacturers to create high-performing automotive, infotainment and navigation solutions.

Mike Wodopian (News - Alert), vice president of marketing for the Alchemy processor family at NetLogic Microsystems, said in a statement: “NetLogic Microsystems is very excited to deliver our Windows Embedded Compact 7 solution practically simultaneously with Microsoft’s announcement. Our ability to produce this timely release demonstrates the robustness and compatibility of the Alchemy family on a popular operating system.”

In another development, NetLogic introduced new offerings in high-speed physical layer SerDes development that has resulted in the world's lowest latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) PHY solution for data centers.

NetLogic’s products are used in accelerating network traffic to significantly enhance the performance and functionality of advanced 3G/4G mobile wireless infrastructure, data center, enterprise, metro Ethernet, edge and core infrastructure networks. NetLogic Microsystems’ market-leading product portfolio includes high-performance multi-core processors, knowledge-based processors, content processors, network search engines, ultra low-power embedded processors and high-speed 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet PHY solutions.
