Scalado Launches Fifth Generation Image Processing Platform

Scalado a provider of imaging technologies, applications and services for the mobile industry, announced the launch of its fifth generation Image Processing Platform. According to company sources this range of advanced capturing, viewing, editing, searching and sharing capabilities offered by Scalado (News - Alert) will solve common problems and frustrations associated with mobile imaging. It will also bring the full-featured digital camera experience to popular mobile devices.

Håkan Persson, Scalado’s CEO said in a release, “Scalado wants to give the end user the ultimate imaging experience, and to provide our customers with the means to create true differentiation through the use of our imaging technology, products and solutions.”

Persson continued, “We can now give everybody the ability to record, access and re-live their most memorable moments on any device, anywhere.”

Scalado’s Image Processing Platform can be easily integrated with other technologies as it is optimized for major software, hardware, platforms and sensors. The pre-integration of Scalado’s Image Processing Platform with advanced SOC system solutions will enable chipset manufacturers to include sophisticated imaging applications on their own platform. This will include the latest in high dynamic range (HDR (News - Alert)) imaging and 3D capturing.

Sami Niemi, Scalado’s CTO and co-founder stated, “Scalado’s unique combination of patented technologies for embedded imaging can be used to create unprecedented capabilities for any device. As such, Scalado can deliver a truly outstanding imaging experience for end users that will allow them to record and re-live their most cherished memories.”

Company sources added that Scalado’s Image Processing Platform 5.0 will help handset manufacturers and chipset providers to introduce new use-cases like the ability to capture 3D panorama images by ‘sweeping’ the phone’s handset and also  support the latest face recognition, detection and tracking technology. It also enables super-fast and highly intuitive search functionality besides providing the ability to pan and zoom into 200 megapixel images in high quality.

In a related story reported on TMCnet, Scalado SpeedTags technology has been selected to be integrated with Mobile Application Processors that are developed by global chipset manufacturer Renesas Technology (News - Alert). Accelerated image capture and management for camera phones will be provided by Scalado SpeedTags.
