DisplayLink Launches New Virtual Graphics Chip For HP MultiSeat

DisplayLink Corp., a leading hardware and software firm, has recently announced that the company’s new USB Virtual Graphics powers the HP MultiSeat Computing Devices. The HP MultiSeat Computing Devices include the HP MultiSeat t150 for Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 systems. Followed by the release of the first DisplayLink zero client solutions in 2010, the new virtual graphics chip has been designed into the updated HP MultiSeat Thin Client device for global educators.

The HP MultiSeat Computing Solution and the HP MultiSeat t150, along with the Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 operating system, will now include a display, keyboard and mouse, which will allow the users to experience an individual computing session from a notebook or PC as the server as well as combine for up to 10 seats. Additionally, the HP MultiSeat t150 features a dedicated USB port for private viewing of data from USB drives/keys. The combination provides a true zero client experience that eliminates the need for an operating system, CPU or memory at the systems’ end points, or video cards to be installed and operating as a plug and play with just requires peripherals, a thin client and a familiar standard USB 2.0 cable instead of any proprietary connection technology.

DisplayLink USB virtual graphics technology utilizes the Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 as well as HP MultiSeat Clients and enables a greater than 10 seat zero client solution. The zero client solution is ideal for schools, labs, libraries, retail, establishments, data centers, and emerging markets, where it isn’t possible to provide one PC per person. DisplayLink has reinvented the way computers talk to multiple displays through the use of semiconductors and software. The new DisplayLink drivers include improved performance and other enhancements that complement Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 components.

In a release, Dennis Crespo, executive vice president of marketing and business development at DisplayLink said that, “HP and Microsoft (News - Alert) have been leading the adoption of affordable, yet powerful, virtual computing solutions in the education and emerging market segments. A year later, we’ve proven the value of virtual multi-seat computing and look forward to also bringing it to small and medium businesses.”
