DisplayLink Launches New Drivers Compatible with Windows 2011

DisplayLink Corp., a leading hardware and software firm, revealed that the company has released fully updated drivers for Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows’ latest 2011 operating system version. The launch is part of DisplayLink’s on-going support for Windows MultiPoint Server 2010, which will ensure that the latest zero-client computing solution will be available to customers immediately. The Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 was officially launched at the BETT 2011 which was held recently in London.

DisplayLink offers unique and innovative technology which enables virtual graphics connectivity between computers and displays over standard interfaces such as USB, wireless USB and Ethernet. The DisplayLink USB graphics technology represents a unique approach to USB 2.0 graphics, allowing smooth video playback and providing a low latency connection that feels very much like a traditional monitor while providing the plug and display simplicity of USB.

DisplayLink’s USB video technology can be found in monitors, USB docking stations, projectors and USB to DVI adapters. The user needs to simply install the DisplayLink software and connect a USB cable between the monitor or adapter or peripheral and PC. The software will then automatically configure the monitor for optimal picture quality and stores those settings.

DisplayLink USB virtual graphics technology utilizes the Windows MultiPoint Server 2011, as well as HP MultiSeat Clients and enables a greater than 10 seat zero client solution. The zero client solution is ideal for Schools, Labs, Libraries, Retail, Establishments, Data Centers, and Emerging Markets, where it isn’t possible to provide one PC per person. DisplayLink has reinvented the way computers talk to multiple displays through the use of semiconductors and software. The new DisplayLink drivers include improved performance and other enhancements that complement Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 components.

In a press release, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for DisplayLink, Dennis Crespo, said, “DisplayLink software and silicon allows one host computer to connect with up to 10 or more separate monitors via simple USB connections, delivering individual desktop experiences that are easy to set up and at a fraction of the cost of typical thin-client systems. The important zero-client market needs computing solutions that are simple, accessible and affordable; and DisplayLink will continue working closely with Microsoft and other partners to make those solutions possible.”
