Nexcess Offers Ksplice Uptrack Along With Managed Dedicated Server Offering

As a leading provider of shared, dedicated, and eCommerce web hosting services, Nexcess is providing its customers with a new class of best-of-breed server offerings by adopting Ksplice Uptrack’s “rebootless” Linux technology. Ksplice Uptrack is a subscription service that enables customers to apply 100% of the important kernel security updates released by their Linux vendor without rebooting. Nexcess will include Ksplice Uptrack along with its managed dedicated servers and Magneto offering at no extra cost for its customers.

In a release, Chris Wells, CEO of Nexcess said, “At Nexcess we've always focused on superior hosting, and Ksplice was an obvious choice for delivering superior service to our customers. Now our customers can obtain top-notch security without compromising availability - which is especially important during the holiday season.”

Before the advent of Uptrack, customers were instructed by Linux Vendors to install updated kernel more than once per month in the year 2009, with each server update requiring an administrator to schedule downtime. This also posed added security risks while the system update installation was in process. To address these challenges, Uptrack provides seamless kernel update installation that reduces the overhead of system administration while boosting uptime and security.

In a release, Waseem Daher who is Ksplice's chief operating officer said, “Ksplice Uptrack delivers levels of security and availability that far exceed what's generally available. We're pleased to work with Nexcess to serve their Linux hosting customers better.” By leveraging Ksplice’s unique technology, IT administrator’s can keep their Linux servers updated and secured with the elimination of rebooting downtime.

By empowering Internet's hottest sites, Nexcess specializations in e-commerce, high-profile and high-traffic sites, thus offering a variety of custom/complex hosting solutions. As an enterprise software company, Ksplice is Nexcess’ first product that is making server reboots a thing of the past. Organizations take advantage of Ksplice Uptrack to make their Linux systems more secure, reliable and maintainable through seamless updates. Additionally, Nexcess expanding services include virtual private servers, dedicated hosting and Michigan colocation as well as new and extremely popular Magento SIP E-Commerce plans.
