When you attend a trade show, you might not think twice about the fact that a comprehensive network is behind the scenes supporting all the voice, video and data shared on the expo floor; because, let’s face it, you are probably too busy spreading the word about your offerings, closing the deal and garnering interest about your company.
But as you make your way to Interop (News - Alert) next week, you might want to pay extra close attention to the InteropNet network which will be powered by Server Technology’s Sentry Power System for the sixth year in a row.

Server Technology (News - Alert) – a provider of data center power distribution technologies – will power the InteropNet thanks to its combination of intelligent cabinet PDUs which provide power management via IP, branch circuit protection, per outlet power sensing (POPSTM), and remote and local input current power monitoring with Sentry Power Manager (SPM), Server Technology’s solution that globally monitors and manages the PDUs, brings the entire network of intelligent PDUs to a central dashboard to provide a single view for power and environmental information.
InteropNet will be utilizing devices from three locations in various facilities across the country including the show site. By tapping Sentry Power System, all the PDUs on the InteropNet can be accessed globally from a single central interface, giving the InteropNet engineers access to device level power monitoring, management, power trends, and alarms without having to login to the firmware of individual PDUs, according to Server Technology officials.
But for Server Technology, Interop represents more than just a chance to power the network; it also presents an opportunity for the data center power distribution company to shed some light on SPM, its flagship solution, and its recent rebranding efforts.
“We’re offering a free demo version of SPM now, so data center managers can try it out and see just how much it can do,” Julie Brown, Server Technology’s marketing manager, told TMCnet. “We’ll have SPM demo DVDs at the show, or you can also download directly from our website.”
“We continue to promote the fact that we make the world’s most reliable PDUs that are 100 percent performance tested,” she added. “No other manufacturer can say that. And we’re excited to talk about Sentry Power System – the tightly integrated combination of our PDUs with SPM – for a complete power system. We also want to spread the word about Server Technology being ‘DCIM-Ready’ and how we can guide data center managers through the DCIM confusion and help get them started on a DCIM plan for the future.”
With quite a year behind it already – from its DCIM Workshop series to its website overhaul to its new firmware version – Server Technology is certainly making a name for itself in 2012. But the data center power distribution company still has more up its sleeve.
“More products! Higher density, higher amperage, different form factors,” Brown said of what we can expect. “Our engineers are busy designing and developing PDU solutions to meet any need – globally.”
