OKI Electric Industry Launches ExaaS Cloud Computing Service

In an effort to optimize customer IT investments by addressing total IT lifecycle management, OKI Electric Industry, a Japanese telecommunications manufacturer, announced the launch of its ExaaS cloud computing service for the Japanese market.

According to OKI (News - Alert) Electric Industry, the new ExaaS cloud computing service is designed to provide services whenever and in whatever form required by its customers. It comprises of support for all tasks and issues related to installation, development, procurement, establishment, and operational support for terminals and network components located at customer sites.

Extending beyond conventional cloud services to include customer hardware Life Cycle Management “LCM,” the new ExaaS cloud computing service is a total service package. The total service provides support for the operation and management of various terminals such as ATMs, exclusive terminals, and PCs at customer sites, as well as application services required by customers.

The LCM refers to the overall process of managing a product or system, covering planning, development, and operations to disposal.

The ExaaS cloud computing service also strengthens management capabilities by providing high-level applications as shared-use services. In other words, the service provides high-level services for individual customers as cost-effective shared-use services.

Apart from supporting customers in their integration of transition from current systems, the ExaaS cloud computing service provides safe as well as secure services that meet standards established by various industrial regulations.

Officials with OKI Electric Industry said in a statement, the service accommodates internal and external audits backed by OKI's established service security foundations. The company will provide all the necessary tools and transition integration services, in order to support customers as they migrate from existing data and data systems.

Sei Yano, senior VP, responsible for solutions and services at OKI, said in a statement, "In recent years, customers have come to expect cloud services to deliver cost reductions over the overall IT lifecycle. Customers who had previously given up on high-level IT functions and technologies due to poor return on investment generally hold high expectations for cloud services."

Officials with OKI said that the company plans to utilize its experience in providing services such as LCM via its 250 service and maintenance sites and 2,500 staff located across Japan.

In the recent news, OKI Electric Industry announced the development of an ultra-compact inter-vehicle communications device that facilitates direct communication between vehicles and between vehicles and pedestrians.
