LiveData Utilities Names Brad Harkavy as President, Adds Staff to Business Unit Serving Smart Grid Solutions

LiveData, Inc. today announced that Brad Harkavy has been named president of LiveData Utilities, the company's business operation that provides the leading OT integration platform for the smart grid. In addition to naming its first president, LiveData Utilities added Christophe Gerard, senior architect and Joe Fitzgerald, senior software engineer, to its growing professional staff.

Harkavy joined LiveData Utilities in 2014 from Sagewell, Inc., an early-stage energy efficiency company, where he was chief operating officer. With more than 20 years' executive-level experience growing public and private industrial and high-tech businesses, Harkavy has successfully accelerated ideas and technology into innovative products and services for more than 20 companies, including BPG, CoolChip, GrabCAD, GSI, Purchased, Sagewell, SMTP, Teradyne (News - Alert), and Vert. At LiveData Utilities, he is responsible for business development, strategy, and overall management of the company's smart grid integration solutions.

"In his four years at LiveData Utilities, Brad has driven the utility business' growth and served as a steady hand at the helm. We are fortunate to have Brad maintaining our course of leadership," said LiveData CEO and President Jeff Robbins. "Establishing the position of President and naming Brad to that new role further acknowledges both his contributions and also the accelerating opportunities we see in managing the Smart Grid integration."

Harkavy, who joined the company as the first Managing Director of LiveData Utilities, has asumed his new role as president. "The explosion of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and the disparate energy management systems required to manage a fleet of DERs, is forcing a revolution in how enlightened utilities industry organizations are architecting the complex system of systems which make up the Smart Grid today," said Harkavy. "It is an exciting, vibrant market, and LiveData Utilities RTI Server Platform is the industry leading, real-time OT solution to manage this forever."

Senior Architect Christophe Gerard leads the software architecture evolution of the RTI Platform. He brings expertise in real-time messaging, signal processing, machine learning and behavioral/cognitive neuroscience. Throughout his career, Gerard has often held cross-functional roles in system architecture, software development, product management and operations across various industries such as electric power, telecommunications, internet and education/research.

Senior Software Engineer Joe Fitzgerald has long experience in the industrial control arena, implementing SCADA systems in the plastics and textile industries, and as a software engineer for GE Automation & Controls. At Cambridge Technology, he wrote motion control software on both embedded and PC platforms. At LiveData Utilities, Fitzgerald works on RTI Server internals, as well as leading the company's cybersecurity efforts.
