Apricorn’s software-free approach ensures that 100 percent of the data is hardware-encrypted, and 100 percent of the authentication process is executed within the device’s embedded encryption system by way of its onboard keypad. 

No critical security parameters such as PINs or encryption keys are shared with the host.  Additionally, software-free / self-contained authentication and encryption makes the Aegis line of secure drives compatible with virtually any OS as well as unique applications such as embedded systems and instrumentatio without a keyboard.
