SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --Zentera Systems, Inc., the leader in security and connectivity for workloads in hybrid computing environments, today announced that it has been selected as the winner of the CyberSecurity Breakthrough Award 2017 in the IaaS Security Solution of the Year category. The competition is judged by established cybersecurity professionals including journalists, analysts, and technology executives.

High-profile security attacks on companies running both on-premise and in the cloud, that is, running hybrid environments, have taken advantage of vulnerabilities specific to hybrid workloads. The "Infrastructure as a Service" category is especially appropriate for Zentera's CoIP Security Enclave solution, which protects applications and workloads by connecting them across a unified overlay network called an enclave. CoIP Enclaves are a kind of software-defined perimeter based on micro-segmentation. They offer multiple networking and security features to shield security-senitive applications; these features include network encryption and east-west micro-segmentation, as well as game-changing capabilities like north-south micro-segmentation and CoIP Application Interlock, which restricts network access to only certified applications.

Because CoIP uses an overlay approach, enclaves can span across multiple environments. With unified security and an on-demand, end-to-end network, enterprises can meet compliance requirements and protect their security-sensitive applications and workloads using CoIP. Furthermore, CoIP does not require changes to existing infrastructure. Consistent network security policies and access controls can be applied throughout enclaves in about a day.

"The Target and Equifax breaches show that existing technologies are insufficient to secure complex hybrid environments," said Mike Loftus, VP of Strategy and Marketing. "This IaaS award from CyberSecurity Breakthrough is a great complement to being named a Cool Vendor in Cloud Security by Gartner. Being able to essentially provide a virtual infrastructure as a service to enterprises is what makes the CoIP Enclave so powerful."
