In 1995 James created Java, a virtual-machine based language that advanced the state of the art of computing by allowing cross-platform execution without recompilation, a secure and robust "sandbox" model, and just-in-time compilation of code for optimization. James has been interested in the embedded and robotics spaces for a long time and is currently the Chief Software Architect at Liquid Robotics that builds and operates a robotic unmanned surface vehicle.
