Advancing Healthcare and Clinical Research With Blockchain: Florence and Verady Form Partnership

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Florence, the company advancing clinical research through software, and Verady, the Blockchain asset assurance company, today announced a partnership to develop applications harnessing Blockchain for advancing healthcare and clinical research. The announcement takes place at the Distributed:Health conference in Nashville, Tennessee, the leading conference exploring healthcare innovation through Blockchain.

Florence is the fastest growing workflow tool in clinical research and manages patient and trial data for thousands of clinical investigators and research sponsors. Verady develops technologies that make asset assurance through Blockchain easy and secure. As part of the partnership, Verady's Application Programming Interface (API) will provide an easy-to-use, standardized Representational State Transfer (ReST) interface to abstract away the complexities of Blockchain for Florence's customers.

"Our technology allows healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies to fingerprint critical data and manage its use in a secure Blockchain system," says Verady CEO Kell Canty. "By controlling security and privacy through Blockchain, we help Florence to enable new uses of patient data and help research teams deliver new discoveries."

"The Florence-Verady partnership allows researc sites and pharmaceutical companies more control over patient data through Blockchain," says Florence CTO, Andres Garcia. "Patient and clinical trial data managed through the Verady API allows research teams to take advantage of terabytes of patient data while respecting patient rights."

The partnership will be developing open source Blockchain applications for managing patient and clinical trial data, in conjunction with several pharmaceutical sponsors. For more information, or to meet the partnership team at Distributed:Health, email [email protected].

About Florence: Florence advances clinical research through software. The Florence eBinder Suite replaces paper investigator site files, trial master files and source binders with a shared platform. This shared platform approach makes remote monitoring of eRegulatory and eSource documents possible while giving sponsors real-time insights into study progress. The company serves over 2,000 principal investigators at research sites all over the world, including PCCTC/Mt. Sinai and Johns Hopkins. Florence was selected as the most disruptive new innovation in pharma by Dpharm in 2016 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

About Verady: Verady provides digital asset assurance through VeraNet where individuals, corporations, and financial institutions can audit, verify, and report on digital assets held on blockchains. Verady believes traditional accounting systems, firms, and standards are currently lacking functionality regarding the innovations of cryptocurrency, blockchain assets, and tokens. VeraNet is envisioned as the bridge between Blockchain-based digital assets and traditional financial assurance that is needed to further the acceptance and growth of these assets.
