SANS Announces its Return to San Francisco for Winter Security Training Event

BETHESDA, Md., Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced its return to San Francisco November 27December 2. SANS San Francisco Winter 2017 will feature hands-on immersion style training taught by top cyber security experts. Included among the instructors is principal security consultant at Enclave Consulting, Jason Fossen (@JasonFossen). Fossen will deliver the keynote address on Windows Exploratory Surgery with Process Hacker as well as teach his SEC505: Securing Windows and PowerShell Automation course.

According to Fossen, "The SANS Securing Windows and PowerShell Automation course is primarily a security course, but you'll learn PowerShell scripting at the same time. PowerShell experience is very important for both network security and job security. Employers simply expect Windows administrators and SOC engineers to have at least the basics of PowerShell under their belts, and the more coding expertise the better.  With the trend towards DevOps automation, cloud computing, and Server Nano containers for Docker, Windows security requires at least some PowerShell scripting now. And, besides, using PowerShell is just plain fun!"

Joining Fossen at SANS San Francisco Winter 2017 is an impressive list of cyber security practitioners. Computer network defense expert and SANS author Chris Crowley will teach his MGT517: Managing Security Operations: Detection, Response, and Intelligence course. ThinkSec founder Frank Kim will join forces with the Vice President and CISO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Russell Eubanks to teach the MGT514: IT Security Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership course. Counter Hack Challenges' Jeff McJunkin will teach SEC560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking. Forensic expert Heather Mahalik will teach the FOR500: Windows Forensic Analysis course.
