GEICO's CAT Teams on Standby for Tropical Storm Cindy

GEICO's Catastrophe Claims Response Teams (CAT) are on standby and ready to assist as Tropical Storm Cindy moves through the Gulf of Mexico and possibly reaches the East Coast.

GEICO urges policyholders to report any losses as early as possible on the GEICO mobile app, GEICO.com or call 1-800-841-3000 as soon as any storm damage affects them and GEICO will dispatch our special claims teams to damaged areas, to help get people back on the road.

GEICO officials say that additional information is available at GEICO's online Catastrophe Center with preparedness tips, links to other important hurricane information and weathersites, and immediate claims handling capabilities.

GEICO urges policyholders to take all necessary steps to protect their families, their homes and their vehicles prior to the storm. A tropical storm wind can reach up to 73 mph before it re-classes as a hurricane.

The company also urges residents to heed the instructions of their state and local fire and police agencies. Governors John Bel Edwards of Louisiana and Kay Ivey of Alabama have declared states of emergency in anticipation of flash flooding and severe weather while, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott currently has ordered the State Operations Center to raise its readiness level.

GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company) is a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies and is the second-largest private passenger auto insurance company in the United States. GEICO, which was founded in 1936, provides millions of auto insurance quotes to U.S. drivers annually. The company is pleased to serve more than 15 million private passenger customers, insuring more than 24 million vehicles (auto & cycle).

Using GEICO's online service center, policyholders can purchase policies, make policy changes, report claims and print insurance ID cards. Policyholders can also connect to GEICO through the GEICO App, reach a representative over the phone or visit a GEICO local agent.

GEICO also provides insurance quotes on motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), boats, travel trailers and motorhomes (RVs). Coverage for life, homes and apartments is written by non-affiliated insurance companies and is secured through the GEICO Insurance Agency, Inc. Commercial auto insurance and personal umbrella protection are also available.
